Haute Couture has become the key platform for Arab designers to reach an international crowd, but with the upcoming event cancelled due to COVID-19, new plans have to be made.

Dubai-based brand Rami Al Ali has decided not to present a new Couture collection in July for Autumn-Winter 2020/21, a decision which was a “mindful” one, Creative Director Rami Al Ali explains.

“We took the decision to not create a new collection this season as we want to be more mindful about our production,” he says. “Fashion is the most adaptable industry, and very much the mirror of the society.”

Al Ali isn’t the only designer who is stepping back from the traditional fashion calendar, Saint Laurent, Gucci and Arwa Al Banawi are just some of the brands who are reshaping their strategy for the months ahead.

This move will not only help Al Ali to reevaluate the environmental impact and become more responsible, he will also have extra time for the creative process and production.

This change will extend the last Spring-Summer 2020 Couture collection window, offering adequate time for viewings.

The next Rami Al Ai Couture collection will be announced in due course.
