Embrace the summer parasol, people.

Dubai Municipality is taking a cue from Rihanna by letting you stand under their umbrella.

More than 1000 free umbrellas have been distributed around the city as part of the civic body’s initiative to protect residents from the blazing summer sun – especially those who don’t have cars, or whose work requires them to be outside during the day.

Municipality officials have been handing out the umbrellas at metro stations, public parks and beaches – and by the looks of it, the gesture has been appreciated by all.

Dubai Municipality launched an umbrella initiative for everyone in Dubai to protect them from the sun heat, especially people who do not own cars, and their work requires them to walk in the afternoon, where the temperature is high during that period of the year.
