Hanalei Reponty-Gudauskas, Founder of Abysse, talks us through her beauty and skincare routine.
Talk us through your morning routine.
I wake up with the sun. As soon as my son Canyon is up, our morning routine starts. It usually involves drinking a warm tea, a breakfast full of fruits and spending time outside. I keep my morning routine very minimal, moving and replenishing my body being the number one priority. I barely wear any makeup during the day, and usually, just make sure to hydrate my skin. I usually put on a foundation from Drunk Elephant and Brown Mascara and I am ready for the day.
And your evening routine?
I love taking a warm shower after a long day. I usually scrub my body, and wash my face. I have quite dry skin, so moisturizing is key for me at night. I have been using a Gua Sha set every night on my skin to relax and feel fresh. My hair is so long, and most days salty, I apply Kerastase Elixir Ultime in my hair and braid it for the night.

Are you a fan of masks?
I am! Masks are so rejuvenating and relaxing. They allow you to take a minute and rest and reset. They are such an amazing tool, both for skin and mind.
What’s your approach to makeup?
Super minimal. Most days I barely wear makeup. I think growing up in the islands, where it is always super warm, and you are always in the ocean brought that out of me. Natural beauty is what I love, and it has transcended in all aspects of my life, especially makeup.
Which fragrances do you love?
My go-to scent is Prodigieux from Nuxe. It smells like the islands, like summer, like the beach. It transports me to summer, my childhood and makes me feel at home.
Talk us through your hair routine.
My hair routine is key to healthy hair. I have been using Kerastase since I was 16, and fell in love with the brand and its amazing products. My favorite range is the nutritive set. It regenerates and repairs your hair after a long day in the ocean when it is dry and salty and really needs care.
What is the most unusual item in your makeup bag?
Sun cream like Shade sunscreen or We are feel good inc and some Monoi Oil from my island home in Tahiti for the smell and to treat my hair.
