_Kiesza@Fendi-Color-block-.Cannes-eventAll eyes have been on Cannes recently and it hasn’t just been for the red carpet action. During the illustrious film fest, fashion powerhouse Fendi decided to up the glamour stakes by throwing a party for the launch of their new eyewear collection. As well as unveiling the name of the new range – Color Block – the brand also announced the face of its campaign – rising music sensation, Kiesa Rae Ellestad or as we know her Kiesza

The Canadian-born singer, who has hit our radar since the release of her debut mega-hit Hideaway, said of the collaboration: “[The glasses] are almost artsy, and that’s my personality.” Made in Italy the acetate frames feature a square face with transparent arms, which come in a range of bright mix-matching tones. The standout pieces boast clashing animal print alongside pinks, yellows, blues and greens.

With a guest list that included the likes of burlesque dancer Dita Von Teese and famed Asian model Liu Wen; the announcement party, which was held on the stunning terrace at the famed celebrity joint Club Costes by Albane, has already drummed up a host of fans. Those lucky enough to score themselves an invite to the bash were able to get a sneak preview of the frames, which will launch worldwide in June.

The Color Block campaign video, which also features Kiesza, and is directed by Ruth Hogben, is sure to stir up a cult following. Hogben who is formally known for her work with Dior, Gareth Pugh, Louis Vuitton, Kanye West and Lady Gaga to name but a few is famous for her avant-garde and futuristic filmography. The film itself, which features Kiesza walking on a treadmill against a painted skyline, frames in hand, is as hotly anticipated as the glasses themselves.

The high-fashion collaboration looks set to further launch Kiesza’s already burgeoning career. Fendi is renowned for spotting up and coming having previously worked with Beth Ditto and Amy Winehouse when they were promising young artists at the beginning of their musical careers.
