Hey Upper East Siders!

If you haven’t heard the great news by now, then let us be the ones to break it to you: Gossip Girl is getting a reboot. That’s right, the iconic CW teen drama is returning seven years after it went off the air, and we can’t wait.

The six-season series followed a group of uber-rich friends who live at Upper East Side, Manhattan (one of the fanciest parts of the city). The show is being re-made for HBO Max, which has ordered 10 hour-long episodes, according to Deadline. The new streaming service will launch in spring 2020, which will be home to HBO and WarnerMedia programming.

Not much is known about the reboot, but what we know is that it will take place eight years after the scandalous Gossip Girl website was taken down, when Dan (Penn Badgley), was revealed to be the gossip blogger. In the new series, a new generation of Upper East Side private school teens will be the target of a new Gossip Girl. “The prestige series will address just how much social media—and the landscape of New York itself—has changed in the intervening years,” a release teased.

One of our favourite parts of the original series, and what we are looking forward to in the remake is the fashion. From Blair Waldorf’s preppy schoolgirl looks and her penchant for printed tights and headbands, to Serena van der Woodsen’s luxe bohemian aesthetic, this show was every fashionista’s dream. So lets look back at our favourite Gossip Girl style moments in honour of the reboot.

Blair Waldorf – Elie Saab

One of the fashion standout moments of the show came during its last season. Blair stunned in a powder blue couture gown from Lebanese designer, Elie Saab during her impromptu wedding to Chuck Bass in Central Park.

Serena van der Woodsen – Georges Chakra

Over its six seasons, Gossip Girl featured countless wedding dresses due to all of the nuptials that occur throughout the series. However, there is no denying that Serena’s gold gown by Lebanese designer Georges Chakra is one of the best.

Blair Waldorf – Oscar de la Renta

In season four, Blair served us again with one of our favourite looks from the show. Who can forget this red ruffled Oscar de la Renta dress that she wore while in Paris.

Serena van der Woodsen – Zuhair Murad

One of our favourite looks from the show so far was Serena in this grey, see-through Zuhair Murad dress. Did someone say iconic?

Vanessa Abrams – Reem Acra

Vanessa’s character on the show wasn’t as fashion savy as the other girls. But, that didn’t mean that she didn’t serve looks, like when she stunned in this Reem Acra gown, making us see her in a whole new light.

Jenny Humphrey – Zuhair Murad

Jenny’s character made an appearance for the series finale, after leaving the show earlier. She attended her brother’s wedding in a long-sleeved, mini-dress by Zuhair Murad.

Blair Waldorf – Winter chic

No one does winter like Blair Waldorf. Over the seasons, the iconic Queen B served us unforgettable winter looks. We can’t forget this bright green Barney’s Co-op cape, paired with a neon yellow Longchamp hand bag and Louboutin heels.

Jenny Humphrey – H&M

It wasn’t all designer brands on the set of Gossip Girl. Aspiring designer Jenny Humphrey wore this H&M dress at her very own flash fashion show, looking both cool and youthful.

Blair Waldorf – Three words, eight letters look

One of the most memorable scenes of the series, is when Blair asks Chuck to tell her how he really feels about her. “Three words, eight letters…. say it and I’m yours..” In this scene, she wore a bright green coat, a scarf and matching head-band and PLV heels over her signature tights.

Blair & Serena – School Uniforms

During the first two seasons of Gossip Girl, the main gang were all in high-school. This meant that they would spend most of their time in their school uniform, so we can’t compile a list of fashionable moments from the show, without giving a much-deserved shout-out to their school days. The ‘it girls’ of the series gave the reinvigorated the classic school uniform, pairing the traditional tartan pieces with neon coloured tights, flashy headbands and designer purses and shoes.

We can’t wait to see what the reboot brings to the table in regards to the fashion and we can’t wait to see which Arab designers will be featured in the upcoming series.

xoxo, Gossip Girl!
