In the realm of diamonds, a quiet revolution has been unfolding.

Whether the ascent is more than just a trend or a total paradigm shift to a conflict-free future where beauty and ethics intertwine seamlessly – let’s find out.
Here, Emirates Woman delves into the allure of lab-grown diamonds with Pamela El Khoury, Founder of Diamind. Diamind is a trailblazing force championing a range of sustainable jewellery that showcases elegance and artistry at a considerate price point. Confirmed: Lab-grown diamonds are REAL diamonds.
Pamela El Khoury exclaims, “Absolutely! Lab-grown diamonds are indistinguishable from mined diamonds because they are chemically, physically, and optically identical. They possess the same brilliance, hardness, and clarity as natural diamonds. They are 100% real diamonds, just created in a controlled environment rather than being mined from the earth. To prove my point, world-renowned laboratories such as GIA and IGI grade lab-grown diamonds in the exact same way as mined diamonds and provide certificates for each.”
LGDs are created under pressure too.
“No pressure, no diamonds” as the saying goes – and this holds the same with LGDs. Pamela El Khoury tells Emirates Woman, “They are created using two main methods: High-Pressure High Temperature (HPHT) and Chemical Vapor Deposition (CVD). HPHT involves subjecting a carbon source to high pressure and high temperature, replicating the natural conditions under which diamonds are formed. In CVD, a carbon-rich gas is used to grow diamond crystals on a substrate. Both methods yield real diamonds with the same chemical composition and physical properties as mined diamonds.”
They are as valuable and durable as their mined counterparts.
“Lab-grown diamonds hold significant value as they are genuine diamonds, and their value is determined by their quality and characteristics. Like mined diamonds, they can be precious and hold sentimental value for generations” says Pamela El Khoury.
The four Cs (carat, cut, colour and clarity) also apply to LGD.
Pamela El Khoury shares, “The four Cs are fundamental factors that determine a diamond’s quality, whether lab-grown or mined. At Diamind, we source our diamonds meticulously above a specific colour, clarity and cut to ensure that each piece of lab-grown diamond jewelry we offer is of the highest quality and meets our customers’ expectations.”
You would need an expert to tell a lab-grown and mined diamond apart.
“From a visual standpoint, it is nearly impossible to distinguish lab-grown diamonds from mined diamonds with the naked eye. They have the same optical properties and exhibit identical features. Advanced gemological testing is required to differentiate between the two, but even then, it can be challenging. The key difference lies in their ethical and sustainable origin, which is why transparency is of utmost importance to us at Diamind.” reveals Pamela El Khoury.
