Since Tunisian couturier, Azzedine Alaïa’s death in November 2017, the luxury label will present its official collection on July 4, 2021, just one day before Paris Couture Week begins.

The newly appointed Creative Director of Alaïa, Pieter Mulier, shall present his first official collection, after having years of experience as Raf Simons’ right hand and later on becoming the brand’s head designer by 2003.

Mulier went to consult at Jil Sander, then eventually joining the brand full-time in 2010, while later on proceeding to take on other well-respected roles in the fashion industry.

“It is an absolute dream to join this prestigious Maison, its beautiful ateliers and its talented team,” Mulier said in a statement at the time.

CEO Myriam Serrano, in a post taken to Instagram earlier, said, “Pieter’s appointment marks the opening of an important new chapter for our Maison as we jointly seek to carry the foundational values and distinctive style of Alaïa into the future.”

With the first collection for the Maison being the Spring Summer 22 collection by Pieter Mulier, Pieter is known for his remarkable talent in the fashion industry, accompanied by his sharp eye for construction and a sense of timeless beauty that the house continues to hone.
