Said Mahrouf holds a degree in fashion design from the Amsterdam Rietveld Academy as well as from Pratt Institute in New York. He initially focused on making costumes in collaboration with dancers and performers. His work has been displayed at the New Museum of Contemporary Art and the Cooper Hewitt National Design Museum in New York, the Utrecht Central Museum, the Amsterdam Municipal Museum, and the Carriage Works Gallery in Sydney. He regularly presents a prêt-à-porter collection in his home country at, Festimode-Casablanca Fashion Week and in 2008 he was invited to show his S/S09 collection during the Paris Prêt-à-Porter Salon. In January 2012 Mahrouf presented his A/W12 collection at the Amsterdam Fashion Week while his S/S13 collection was shown at the Mediterranean Design and Fashion Week in Noto, Italy, where he was awarded best contemporary Moroccan designer.
Mahroufs designs are fluid and elegant. He uses a limited colour palette to make clothes that ooze a quiet sophistication.
