It’s exciting news all-round in the fashion world with chic independent online retailer Fabric Boutique Online now shipping to the UAE, bringing a breath of fresh summer style to our fingertips.
Brit retailer Fabric Boutique was founded 15 years ago by creative director and stylist Leigh James, with the website going live last November. The Central St Martins fashion graduate styled for the likes of Vogue Greece and Japan before delving into the world of entertainment, working as a stylist in various films, television and fashion shows, but she always had the dream of owning her own boutique.
Leigh first set up her Manchester-based store 15 years ago after noticing a gap in the market for unique pieces that couldn’t be found on the British high street. She wanted to introduce brands she had discovered while travelling, she felt Manchester, at the time, was lacking in a shop offering something different. She travelled around major trade shows in Italy, France and UK in search of new designers and the perfect products. Leigh said: “I went into business blind but sold 75 per cent of my stock in the first week of opening.”
Fast forward 14 years and the store is somewhat an institution with a loyal customer base. Her online presence through social media is equally impressive with a following on Instagram of over 11,000, which the move to e-commerce a inevitable next step. Leigh said: “ Having built such a great following through social media, launching the website nationally in November 2013 felt like the right move especially in such an online era. With great online success we have decided to launch internationally and introduce these brands to the UAE, showcasing what we are about and introducing fresh products and styles that are easily accessible to the Middle East.”
The online store offers a covetable crop of beautifully crafted clothes, outlandish accessories and unique styles from fresh talents across the globe. If you like to be fashion forward, this is your go-to website for those one of-a-kind finds. The collections include catwalk pieces such as breezy skirts, flowing jackets, and pretty tea dresses that ooze quirkiness and sophistication.
Among the crowd of eclectic and innovative designers and brands are ethnic-inspired creations from independent jewellery and accessories designer Elspeth J. Walker of SweetlimeUK, vibrant swimwear pieces from British streetwear brand Dead Lovers and uber-cool summer sunnies from LA-based brand A. J. Morgan Eyewear.
