Despite the name of the track, this tune is surprisingly upbeat. It starts off slow, but lead singer Karen O soon begins belting out the vocals unaccompanied.
You then see the other two band members travelling separately – by cab and by subway through a grey city. The three are united on the top of the Empire State Building and, as the music builds, the sun rises with Karen O revealing a bright yellow suit and broad smile. You can’t help but feel their infectious happiness!
Karen O is sporting a new look too. She’s embraced blonde hair and wacky suits, which she described, in a Pitchfork interview, as: “Elvis in Vegas, Bootsy Collins, James Brown, Elton John. Old-school, Vegas, country and soul. It’s kind of moody, kind of glam.”
