As they say, never judge a book by its cover, otherwise, to look at Ed Sheeran – with his unkept hair and penchant for hoodies – you’d be forgiven for thinking he is a failed college student living on the rough streets of England. But he isn’t. In fact, the incredibly down to earth, and humorous, 23-year-old is one super-talented singer. Not convinced? Fans of his first album + (plus) will not be disappointed with the second album, which boasts more of a R&B vibe; not surprising when you consider producers Rick Rubin and Pharrell Williams helped work on the album. Williams even offers his vocals in Sing.
Sheeran’s lyrics and topics have seen him dubbed the female Taylor Swift – One, the first song written for the album is quite a maudlin track about his girlfriend Alice, who was the subject of many love songs from his first album. While I’m A Mess was a song written in the shower about his then current girlfriend.
