It often feels like the UAE works in reverse – while the rest of the northern hemisphere is rushing into stores to buy a coat to fend off a cold, wet winter, here, we’re pulling out our swimsuits in anticipation for bearable beach temperatures. Naturally, that means we’ve got to get into tip-top toned perfection – here are a few fitness friendly suggestions for the weekend…

capsule arts

Before you kick start your weekend of physical endorphin highs, give your creative senses a workout at Capsule Arts’ one-night-only exhibition of limited edition prints. Print Collection II will feature works from artist Mariam Abbas, Mahmoud Abbod, Lama Khatib Daniel, Abdelgadir Hassan Elmobark and several others. Not only will you be able to support the local arts, you’ll be able to meet the artists themselves. So next time someone asks about your fabulous new wall accessory you can give them the rundown in the artist’s own words. To RSVP for tonight’s event (September 11) email your name to RSVP@capsulearts.com.

nike running club

Any runner will confirm that the best way to experience a city is by running through it. There are views, smells and tiny, quirky details that are impossible to experience from a car. Dubai can be an especially tricky city to navigate on foot with it’s massive and endlessly changing roads, which is why joining the Nike+ Run Club is such a great idea. Relaunching this Friday (September 12), the club offers you a new way to explore city, meet new people and get fit! It’s a win, win situation. The club hosts three training sessions per week on Fridays, Saturdays and Tuesday and meets at Burj Park Downtown, Palm Jumeirah and DIFC respectively. For more information visit here.

Nyla house

With its roots in dance, yoga, Pilates, weight training and physiotherapy, the NYLA Method is one of the best ways to tone and sculpt a strong, streamlined body. New to our shores, Nyla’s pop-up classes proved extremely popular and this weekend they are opening NYLA House, a permanent home for their 60-minute wonder workouts. The villa on Al Wasl Road will have fitness studios, an organic juice bar and café, a retail store and holistic treatments. To celebrate the opening this weekend they are hosting free classes (Friday and Saturday), so you have no excuse to not go try it out. To book your place, click here.
