ESCAPING INTO THE SCI-FI WORLD OF THE GIVER

Following in the popularity of recent film adaptations of dystopian young adult fiction novels such as The Hunger Games and Divergent, The Giver is the latest Hollywood offering hoping to draw in viewers to a world on the verge of a teen-led revolt. Set in a not too distant future, an isolated and highly regulated community exists in a seemingly utopian state of blissful harmony, but this has come at a cost… With a cast of exceptionally beautiful people and silver screen veterans including Katie Holmes, Alexander Skarsgård, Meryl Streep and Jeff Bridges along newbies Brenton Thwaites and Odeya Rush, this is perfect weekend escapism. Opens tonight (September 18) at all good cinemas.

ENJOYING THE GREAT BRITISH ROAST AT WHEELER’S

WHEELER'S DUBAI

It’s not easy reinventing the wheel – the British roast dinner is an institution and as such doesn’t leave much room for interpretation. However, British chef Daniel Lewis, of Wheeler’s of St James Dubai, is not afraid of the challenge. With the new menu Lewis is championing classic contemporary British cuisine as he explains: “I truly believe in working very closely with all of our suppliers to maintain premium quality and also using the best of what is on the market and sustainable at that time.” With dishes like Cornish Crab Salad and Milk Fed Veal Cutlet, we’re already dialing for a reservation. Every Friday and Saturday, Wheeler’s patrons can celebrate The Great British Roast at a special price: Food Celebration Dhs225 per person, or with beverage pairing Dhs375 per person. For reservations call (04) 3860899 or email reservations@wheelersdubai.com.
