The high-jewellery fashion house that has been disrupting diamonds since 2005 presented a memorable collection donned by familiar faces such as Naomi Campbell, Carla Bruni, Taylor Hill and more. Presented in a raw industrial setup, the collection ‘Beyond the Light’ was born to explore the mysterious lure of Egypt. With 29 silhouettes, the bold pieces came to life in the heart of Paris.

With tweed taking the front seat yet again, Virginie Viard manages to highlight monochrome ensembles paired with sparkling jewellery and knee-length crystal mesh. With a collage of modern glamour, the pieces reimagine modernity and lightness with simplicity at its finest. Punctuated with black and white, the spring/summer 2023 collection brings backs elements from a bygone era. By ending Paris Fashion Week on an elegant note, the show presented all elements that are intrinsically Chanel.

Everything was dramatically oversized at the Louis Vuitton SS23 show this year. From dramatic zippers to gigantic totes, Nicolas Ghesquiere’s latest collection presents a new take on magnified embellishments which was effortlessly ingrained in the show’s DNA. With an XL approach, the collection highlighted tops, skirts, pants and jackets with large zippers in a range of hues including black, red, taupe and blue.

With a baroque-themed runway, Dior went back in time to the 16th century when corsets, platform shoes and, bell-shaped hoop skirts reigned supreme. With a contemporary touch, Maria Grazia Churi predominantly focused on muted shades Catherine de Medici, one of Florentine’s noblewoman’s artistic vision came to life through a contemporary lens.

Breaking boundaries in the world of fashion, Bella Hadid made a bold appearance at the show. Through an out-of-the-box spray-on experience, the Parisian label had everyone talking after the video made its rounds on social media. Created right before the audience’s eyes, this remarkable fashion moment most definitely went down in the books as the designers Sébastien Meyer and Arnaud Vaillant made an impression.

Always known for its innovative approach to fashion, the Balenciaga SS23 collection was set in a mud grave with Kanye West opening the show. By challenging the traditional shows, Balenciaga alluded to the concept of self-expression showing the audience how it’s great to be different. With artificial babies strapped to the chest in Balenciaga harness, the wearable pieces dazzled in glitter in a nonchalant manner. With Demna Gvasalia’s creative spirit, the show challenged its last season’s runway show yet again.

Under the glistening lights of the Eiffel Tower along with an exceptional collection for SS23, Saint Laurent made a statement at Paris Fashion Week this year. Under the continued leadership of Anthony Vaccarello, the creative director adopted the true essence of Parisian glamour with masculine touches for the French fashion house’s showcase which paid homage to many of its archives. Ultra-refined, elongated silhouettes once again took centre stage, accompanied by chiffon hooded ensembles, wool coats, leather bombers and trenches all of which followed a muted colour palette. The collection was showcased in front of a star-studded audience that included Hailey Bieber, Kate Moss, Amber Valletta, Zoë Kravitz and more.

Iconic faces such as Gigi and Bella Hadid take centre stage with this boho chic collection. With the designer’s laidback approach to fashion, the pieces prove that the ‘90s aesthetic is making a comeback. With glittering sequin pieces and metropolitan rock n’ roll styles, the show paid homage to that Y2K flair with low-waisted leather skirts and coastal summertime elegance created to stand the test of time.

By adopting a luxury streetwear ideology, the spring/summer 2023 collection leaned into archival elegance. With a sophisticated edge, the house made a mark on the runway in Paris as Matthew M Williams, kept an eye on the smaller details through crystal embellishments, G-shaped iconography on bags, the zippers on gloves and more. With understated elegance, the styles took a new meaning of refinement. Various stars such as Doja Cat, Brooklyn Beckham, and Nicola Peltz were also in attendance.

With a free-spirited touch, the collection highlighted the outdoors in a refreshing light. With soft textures comprises of lace and crochet, each piece celebrated a warmth in the muses’ movement. By drawing inspiration from nature, the collection featured billowing floor-sweeping pieces, snow-white co-ord sets and flowy long skirts. The star-studded front row at the show featured the likes of Italian actress Monica Bellucci, US actress Eva Longoria, Olivia Palermo and more.

To celebrate its 10-year anniversary, Acne Studios presented a twisted wedding party collection with pastel bows, laces and metallic spikes. With elevated eveningwear silhouettes and an element of undone glamour, the pieces were mainly created with romantic details such as lace, georgette, and satin-crepe. Designed by interpreting bridal wear in a new light, the standout pieces included metal-inspired belts, antique chain necklaces and cowrie shells to shine a light on the theme. Renowned guests such as Kylie Jenner in a caped white gown were also seated front row.

By taking inspiration from the desert, the collection presented various notions of luxury travel and its wilderness through earthy hues and practical looks. With a sense of lightness to the theme, the tanned colour scheme brought a sense of adventure to the outdoors. With layers of breathable mesh, the collection presented what the changing ideals of vacationing look like. The house’s womenswear creative director, Nadège Vanhee-Cybulski took her cues from the urban dwellers.

For a whimsical approach to surrealism, Loewe let florals take the lead through quirky silhouettes and surrealist codes. With hand painted flora décor, the models blossomed center-stage in a playful experimentation between the pieces and its shapes. With spike-heels and pumps made out of deflated ballons, the collection was born to test the limits of volume with its varying shapes and sizes.

With Daniel Roseberry shining a light on immaculate tailoring, the capsule recreated the idea of a summer holiday in Italy. By portraying the true meaning of abstract, the ready-to-wear label featured brushstrokes of colours and presented voluminous silhouettes complemented with sculpted jewellery for a striking impression. Designed to seamlessly adapt into every woman’s life, the looks were an opportunity to speak to all sides of a woman’s life.
