As the UAE continues to adapt and learn amidst the COVID-19 pandemic, Dubai’s Department of Tourism and Commerce Marketing (DTCM) recently announced the easing of several restrictions in the emirate.

It was announced by Dubai authorities that many venues would be able to increase their capacities. Cinemas, galleries and museums are now able to operate at a  capacity of 80 per cent and events are able to operate at a maximum operating capacity of 60 per cent.

Restaurants, bars and clubs will be allowed to operate until 3am – these venues previously had to close at 1am. The capacity of restaurants, bars and clubs has also been increased to 80 per cent and tables of 10 are now being allowed in public dining venues. Venues must ensure large tables are not placed close to each other, leaving at least a space of 1.5 metres between them.

Meanwhile, weddings are now able to accommodate up to 300 people.

For those using public transportation, a maximum operating capacity of 75 per cent will be followed with physical distance markings applied by authorities, with the mandatory use of facemasks while using this mode of transportation.

In order to attend any public events, authorities have confirmed that the COVID-19 vaccine must be received with the second dose not being more than six months old and no more than three months old for senior citizens along with those who have chronic diseases.

All visitors must also present a negative PCR test taken within 48 hours, along with the letter E or a gold star on the Al Hosn applications, to contain the spread of the virus at public gatherings such as weddings.

As previously stipulated, all the necessary COVID-19 rules pertaining to maintaining social distance, face masks and regular sanitization policies must be followed to curb the spread of the pandemic in the country. Violators will be fined accordingly in order to ensure all the rules are followed.
