One of this year’s most hyped movies, Joker is coming to all UAE cinemas this October. The film premiered at Venice Film Festival and the Todd Phillips’ flick took home the festival’s big prize, the Golden Lion for Best Film. The movie, which stars Joaquin Phoenix is already generating Oscar buzz, so it is not one to miss.

Cinema Akil – AFAC Film Week

If you are a film enthusiast, make sure you head over to Alserkal Avenuel’s Cinema Akil. They collaborated with the Arab Fund for Arts and Culture (AFAC) to host the UAE’s first AFAC Film Week. They offer a selection of contemporary feature narratives, documentaries, and shorts from 5 countries across the Arab region.

The line-up includes: A Kasha, a romantic drama directed by Sudanese filmmaker Hajooj Kuka; What Comes Around, a documentary by Lebanese-Egyptian director Reem Saleh; Soudade Kaadan’s powerful Syrian drama The Day I Lost My Shadow; Tunisian feature documentary Railway Men directed by Erige Sehiri; and the Libyan documentary Freedom Fields by Naziha Arebi.

Dates: September 27 – October 5

WAKE UP CALL – W Hotel Music Festival


W Dubai on Palm has become one of the leading party venues in the city and now they are taking it up a notch by introducing WAKE UP CALL music festival to the city. It will take place between October 10-12 with RÜFÜS DU SOL, Rita Ora, and Disclosure headlining.

One of the most iconic musical’s of all time is heading to Dubai, and you don’t want to miss it. The multi-award-winning show by Andrew Lloyd Webber, which tells the tale of a phantom in love with a lead soprano, premiered in 1986 and has since been seen by more than 130 million people worldwide. The musical is coming to the city on a three-week run, so there is no excuse to miss it.

Party in the Park – Dubai Media City Amphitheatre

Party in the Park festival returns for another year, but this time it will be a two-day event with Fatboy Slim, The Kooks and Richard Ashcroft headlining. Taking place at Dubai Media City Amphitheatre, Fatboy Slim will perform on October 31 while The Kooks and Richard Ashcroft will take to the stage on November 1. Make it a family day out as children under 10 can attend the festival for free. Get your tickets at partyinthepark.ae.

Tough Mudder

Wanna be a part of Abu Dhabi’s first Tough Mudder? All you have to do is register. Taking place in Al Hudayriat Island, you can indulge in the mud-drenched obstacle race, which features four different routes. This includes the Tough Mudder 5K with 13 obstacles; the Tough Mudder Classic with more than 25 obstacles; and the Mini Mudder for children. There will also be new obstacles such as: the Black Widow and the Leap of Faith. Meanwhile, favourites like the Pyramid Scheme, Mud Mile and Everest 2.0 also make an appearance.

One of the world’s most iconic rappers, Eminem is set to bring the heat to Abu Dhabi show at Yas Island’s Du Arena as part of his Kamakaze World Tour. Expect a set list that will throw back to the 1990s and 2000s, featuring some of the Loose Yourself rapper’s most iconic tracks, and recent hits from his latest album Kamikaze, the best-selling Hip-Hop album of 2018, including The Greatest, Lucky You and Nice Guy.
