Messika proudly unveils its latest campaign, “Connecting Light and Sound,” featuring Emirati singer and Friend of the Maison Balqees Fathi.

Set against the sweeping desert dunes, the Ramadan campaign celebrates the deep-rooted traditions of the Holy Month, where Balqees illuminates the space with her love for music and diamonds.

How does it feel to be at the forefront of Messika’s “Connecting Light and Sound” Ramadan campaign?

I feel truly delighted. The story Messika is telling for the Ramadan campaign deeply speaks to my culture and values. I really felt that it resonates with my personality, my family heritage, and the Ramadan rituals. So, I’m incredibly happy and feel deeply connected.

Since you joined the Messika family as Friend of the Maison last year, what have been some of your favorite moments in the partnership so far?

Cannes has been one of the most significant events that strengthened my relationship with Valérie Messika and the Messika brand. It allowed our partnership to flourish, grow, and embark on a new journey of success. With each piece I’ve worn since signing my ambassadorship with Valérie, I feel that every creation tells a story. The story is still unfolding, and it’s already achieving great success. This Ramadan campaign also plays a crucial role in shaping this journey, and I can’t wait for it to be revealed.

What is your Ramadan style? And what are your top tips for accessorizing and dressing up for Ramadan?

Ramadan is all about modesty, and I always embrace that in what I wear. I naturally gravitate toward my traditional roots, and during Ramadan, we tend to wear traditional clothing more often – especially during this holy month when we reflect on our origins and heritage. When it comes to accessories, I love layering a few jewellery pieces that capture attention while complementing the culture and traditional attire.

What are your favourite jewellery pieces from the shoot?

The belt! I fell in love with it the moment I saw it. I even told Valérie that it was such a smart design – the combination of gold and diamonds speaks deeply to Arabian women, as it’s a big part of our culture. Since Ramadan is about reconnecting with our roots and traditions, the belt is an essential piece in this collection. I also adored the three-row So Move necklace that I wore in the campaign. It’s a piece I’m eager to own – it’s incredibly precious, and I’d love to add it to my jewellery collection.

The campaign reflects on fostering connections with family through music. What are your favourite Ramadan traditions you’re most looking forward to?

Family gatherings – especially with both of my parents. Since we’re all busy throughout the year, Ramadan is the one time when we can sit together, talk, and spend quality time day and night. This tradition goes back to my childhood – my father would play the oud during Ramadan, and I would sing holy songs that connect to our culture. For me, Ramadan is all about these moments with family, and I can’t wait to experience them again.

How did your father’s love for music inspire you to follow a musical journey?

Without him, I wouldn’t be the artist I am today. I remember being around seven or eight years old when I first started to understand music through his oud playing. His musical notes have stayed with me ever since, and he played a crucial role in paving the way for my career.

This is The Resilience Issue – how do you tap into resilience during challenging times?

Let me tell you something before I forget – Valérie Messika embodies resilience, and I do too. My entire persona is built on resilience. This campaign doesn’t just speak to strong, independent Arabian and Arabian Western women – it speaks to all women in the region, especially during this significant time of the year.
