How to celebrate a decade of the Emirates Woman Woman Of The Year Awards? With a glittering guest list, stunning venue, dazzling dresses, and inspirational women…

With the Emirates Woman Woman Of The Year Awards 2014 celebrating 10 years of the incredible ceremony that recognises the inspirational women who are making an amazing difference in the region, we knew the evening was going to be stellar.

In association with Al Ghurair Centre and sponsors BCBGMAXAZRIA, Bric’s, Cruciani, BMW AGMC, Belle Femme, Careem, African and Eastern and The Address Montgomerie Dubai, the milestone event saw the UAE’s most fabulous and remarkable crowd mingle in honour of 22 incredible women who, with passion and determination, have made their dreams, and the dreams of those around them, a reality.

There were tears, there was laughter, there were VVIPs and there was some serious fashion…

The setting was a luxurious garden party in the gorgeous lawns at The Address Montgomerie, and the glamour began the moment the guests arrived and strutted down the long red carpet – where they happily posed in front of cameras (see gallery links below). Singer and pianist Luke Britton – the Middle East’s answer to Michael Bublé – set the mood with his smooth voice, while guests ate canapés, sipped bubbly and eagerly discussed the 20 incredible nominees, and the two honorary award winners (see below for who won what).

Emirates Woman’s Group Editor Sophia Serin was once again the elegant host for the night warmly welcoming guests to take a seat at their dinner tables before inviting Motivate’s Group Editor and Managing Partner Ian Fairservice to present the first of the two honorary awards of the evening. First up was the Lifetime Achievement Award, which went to Jocelyn Henderson in honour of her many literary achievements (she was the original founder of The Daly Library).

The second was the Woman Of The Decade (sponsored by Cruciani), which went to the 2012 winner of the Emirates Woman Woman Of The Year, Afra Al Basti, Director General of the Dubai Foundation For Women And Children. The DFWAC is the UAE’s first licensed non-profit shelter for women and child victims of domestic violence, abuse and human trafficking. An award well deserved.

The four winners from the Emirates Woman Woman Of The Year Awards 2014 were announced (see below) in between a decadent three course meal, during which the crowd was entertained by soul singer Adam Baluch.

With all the inspiring winners announced the atmosphere was one of sheer elation with everyone hotfooting to the main lawn for the after party, where more bubbles were sipped and extravagant dance moves attempted… Here’s to the next 10 years….
