With Emirates Airline having gradually recommenced regularly scheduled flights to select destinations, that’s all set to take a huge jump this month.
According to the Khaleej Times, the Dubai-based airline is set to add 50 destinations to its flight schedule this month.
In an interview with the publication, the Chief Operating Officer of Emirates, Adel Al Redha, discussed the “strong comeback” the airline is hoping to have over the next few weeks.
“June is a very important month for aviation in general and Emirates in particular as the airline is going to reopen more routes in coming days,” he explained. “We are in close touch with relevant authorities and governments and will share the details once conclude a deal.”
While things are slowly going back to normal for Emirates – and in every day life – Al Redha believes the next three months “are very crucial for aviation markets as it will set the future direction”.

With many countries beginning to open their borders in the coming weeks, demand for travel will likely spike, but the demand will take a while to cover after the COVID-19 pandemic.
Despite this, Al Redha noted that the world “cannot live in lockdown forever”, adding that the aviation industry is a “lifeline” for many and is also a “key stakeholder of the economy”.
Flights which have already recommenced
Plans to recommence flights to another 50 destinations comes after it was announced the airline is set to to resume flights to 12 Arab countries.
The airline’s website is now permitting bookings for outbound flights to 12 Arab countries – these services will start from July 1.
The 12 destinations include: Algeria, Bahrain, Egypt, Iraq, Jordan, Kuwait, Morocco, Lebanon, Oman, Saudi Arabia, Sudan and Tunisia.
Last month, Emirates announced it was recommencing scheduled flights to limited destinations including London Heathrow, Frankfurt, Paris, Madrid, Milan, Toronto, Chicago, Sydney and Melbourne.
Meanwhile the Dubai-based airline is also running limited incoming passenger flights to Dubai, in order to allow residents and citizens to return home.
As of June 1, UAE residents are now allowed to return to the country which was confirmed by the Ministry of Foreign Affairs and International Cooperation (MoFAIC) and the Federal Authority for Identity and Citizenship (ICA) last month.
However, all residents must receive approval in the form of an entry permit from MoFAIC and the ICA.
In order to apply, foreign nationals who hold a valid residency visa for the UAE should register for the ‘Residents’ Entry Permit’ on this website: smartservices.ica.gov.ae.
For those entering the country there are stringent precautions being taken, which have been previously outlined by Dubai-based airline Emirates.
“Stringent entry restrictions remain in place upon arrival in Dubai which includes: a mandatory DHA test on arrival; a mandatory 14-day quarantine and a follow up test before release,” the statement said.
