Another day and another celebrity lifestyle blog. It was only a few days ago that we revealed Kylie Jenner and Kim Kardashian’s plans to expand their brand online, and now talkshow queen Ellen DeGeneres has joined the in on the action and in doing so has already become the most popular celeb in the blogsphere.
We first broke the news of the comedian’s plans to launch a lifestyle site last year, revealing that Ellen DeGeneres would be enlisting the help of notorious fashion mogul Chris Burch, the ex-husband to Tory Burch.
While Chris’ own venture with C. Wonder didn’t work out as planned (fashion stores in the USA have closed down, although the UAE franchise is still open), one thing is for sure EDbyEllen is a flyaway success.
Within 24 hours of Ellen launching her fashion and lifestyle site she reached over 300,000 users and most of the home décor stock had sold out.
It’s no surprise really that the 57-year-old TV host has hit it big so quickly, she is after all the woman behind the most successful selfie ever – remember that infamous Oscar, Hollywood-packed pic?
Ellen welcomed customers to the site via a short YouTube video on the homepage, in which she, very coyly, says: “Welcome to ED everybody. This is something I’ve been working on for years and years, and it might be surprise to some people… I’m very very proud and we’ve worked very very hard… Thank you!”
The website, as Ellen says, may surprise you with the choice of topics which emphasis on apparel, fashion accessories and homeware. Also on the site however is inspirational quotes from the ever upbeat star, such as: “Beauty is about being comfortable in your won skin. It’s about knowing and accepting who you are.”
To coincide with the website launch Ellen, who was voted 50th most powerful woman in the world by Forbes, has also launched EDbyEllen social media accounts with the colourful Instagram account already attracting 60.6k followers.
