Lebanese singer Elissa is amongst the most influential people in the world, according to a new survey.

According to new research by Brandwatch, the superstar has ranked amongst the top 50 most influential people on Twitter, the main social media platform which ignites discussion between many.

Ranking at number 45 on the list, Elissa beat out the likes of former First Lady of the USA Michelle Obama (50), singer Pink (49), Oscar-winning actor Leonard Dicaprio (48), comedian Kevin Hart (47) and singer Iggy Azalea (46).

With over 15.4 million followers on the platform, Elissa regularly engages with her fans through responding to tweets, liking and retweeting.

The Lebanese pop star even said herself it was a great honour to be on the list, especially being the only Arab artist to be featured.

“So proud to be among all these great names around the world, politicians and artists, and the only Arab artist to be featured in the list,” she said. “A great honour.”

As for who topped the list it was the current President of the USA, Donald Trump.

Other notable names who ranked included Taylor Swift (3), Barack Obama (7), Kim Kardashian, (11), Lady Gaga (12), Oprah (23) and Rihanna (26).
