Inspired by flora of the Caribbean

Lebanese designer, Elie Saab displayed his Spring 2019 ‘Vida Paraíso’ couture collection at Paris on Wednesday. The pieces were “inspired by the rich and abundant underwater flora of the Caribbean,” the couturier wrote on Instagram.

Over the years, Elie’s work has become an ode to elegance and femininity. His designs are a touch of romance and fairytales – and this collection is no different. The first look down the runway was a cream coloured belted jumpsuit, with sequined details on the middle. It was complimented with a knee-length blazer, which has glittery designs all over the sleeves and sides. Every following look was an aquatic palette, flowing from pinks, to baby blues, to bold reds, and lots of gold.

From pantsuits to gowns, every pieces honoured the sea life theme. Most ensemble featured corals embroidered on them, making them shimmer. However, all eyes and phones were on the final look, as Elie Saab’s bride strutted down the catwalk. The off-white, floor-length dress with a touch of gold was made of crystals, encrusted on the tulle. The look was completed with a matching crystal embellished veil. We have to say, it was the perfect dress to close the magical show.
