The quality has improved, and so has the price point thanks to a variety on offer – clip-ins, bonds, tapes, wigs, nanorings and weaves. Do your research, prepare plenty of questions for your stylist and be ready to shop around to find the right product for you. Most experts should be able to match extensions to your hair colour and texture.

As for aftercare, don’t be rough when brushing and choose a wide tooth comb, you can also use your hands to separate the strands. Make time for a deep conditioning treatment once a week, tie your hair back at night and braid it before a work out.
