Offering an eclectic mix of both regional labels and international brands, fashlink.com has quickly become one of Dubai’s most-clicked shopping spots since launching last year. The founder, Payal Patel, has made it her mission to promote UAE designers by offering them a platform to showcase their talents.
Here, Payal discusses e-commerce and shopping online…
Why start your own website?
We started as an interactive digital catalogue, where we displayed the latest in fashion retail across the UAE. We quickly stepped into the e-commerce world and revamped the site into an online boutique, offering unique items from regional designers.
Who is the fashlink.com women?
She’s someone who likes to make a statement through her style, by looking for unique, on-trend items. Most of the designers we work with are from this region, so the collections mostly have an Arabian twist. I love that we have customers from across the globe, from Singapore to Florida, ordering UAE brands.
Why do you think women in the GCC choose to shop online when we have the biggest malls in the world?
Online shopping is about convenience. It allows for a wider choice and better comparison tools, so women can now shop smarter. Our USP is to offer items that you wouldn’t find at your local shops.
Top tip for shopping online?
Create a wish list and if you see something you like shortlist it. Our site helps you create your own wish list and save it to your account. Once you’re done browsing, you can go through your list to compare and narrow down the items you want to take to the checkout. This means no more impulse buys.
Is there anything you shouldn’t buy online?
No, as long as the website offers a good returns/exchange policy there’s no reason not to be adventurous.
What’s next for the fashlink.com?
Within the month we’re launching the Middle East’s first e-commerce fashion iPhone/iPad app, which means you can shop on the go!
