Seven years in the making
Dyson is on a mission to transform how you style your hair with introduction of their latest product – Corrale hair straightener.
Team EW has been testing out the Dyson Supersonic™ hair dryer and seen impressive results, especially the reduction of heat damage. The newest addition features a cordless design and is officially the first tool for the innovative brand that doesn’t use air. Is it worth your attention? Read on.
What’s the damage?
As with Supersonic™ and Airwrap™, Dyson wants to reduce the amount of heat we use on our hair. According to the brand, Corrale hair straighteners cause 50 percent less damage than the standard straighteners. It uses pioneering microhinged plate technology, which flex to shape and gather hair, applying even heat and tension to all the hair strands in every pass and keeping them perfectly aligned, reducing the reliance on heat.
“We have been worried about the style results and heat damage from flat plate straighteners. We invented plates that flex and which conform to the precise profile of the tress, applying even heat and correct tension to all the hair strands, keeping them aligned. This means that we get an enhanced styling and without excessive heat damage,” said James Dyson, Founder and Chief Engineer.
Suitable for all hair types, this unique styling tool also features Dyson’s Intelligent Heat Control for precise temperatures. The straightener has three precise heat settings – 165°C (330°F), 185°C (365°F) and 210°C (410°F) – so you can choose how much heat your style needs.

On-the-go styling
The cord-free technology means that you can have perfect hair anywhere you go – so long adaptors. Battery has been thoroughly designed to give the straighteners the same level of performance as the cord versions. A flight mode feature also ensures the device meets air travel standards and can be packed in cabin luggage for travel. The Dyson Corrale™ straightener fully recharges in just 70 minutes and provides up to 30 minutes, cord-free styling. It comes with a chic charging dock – or alternatively you can attach a magnetic 360° charging cable that provides a hybrid charge mode for longer styling sessions.
Take “note”
Dyson Corrale™ straightener also marks the debut of the Dyson “note” – a way to notify you when the tool has reached your chosen temperature.
Final say
Given all the technology and innovation that has gone into this device, it does make it pricier than your average straighteners. It is also bulkier. However, with use you can expect to notice that you don’t need as much heat and time to get the desired result, which is great news for your hair.
When will it be available?
Dyson Corrale™ straightener will be available around May.
