Your ultimate guide of things to do in Dubai this weekend – January 21 to January 23, 2022.

Take a trip to the desert

Sharjah Cafe

As we’re in the midst of the UAE winter, it’s the perfect time to take advantage of the cooler weather spending time outdoors. Encouraging people to embrace their natural surroundings, many different desert dining concepts have emerged this season, particularly in Sharjah. With that, we’ve outlined the very best places to dine in a sophisticated setting whilst basking in the serenity of the desert. See our full edit here.

Channel your holistic energy

Ritz Carlton Wellness

As 2022 has been declared the year of wellness globally, the Ritz-Carlton DIFC has launched a new holistic healing programme. The new #RCDIFCWellness concept is available at the hotel’s spa where guests can escape the trials and tribulations of city life with privately guided meditation, reiki energy healing and Tibetan sound healing. Each 60-minute session is designed to alleviate stress, release energy blocks and promote harmony and balance within the mind, body and spirit. A 15-minute consultation with Zakia Kazi, the programme’s holistic wellbeing guide, begins each treatment within the #RCDIFCWellness programme. The spiritual sessions are available all weekend and every weekday evening from 6.30pm and are priced at Dhs540.

A new sneaker dedicated to Dubai launches

¸

A new sneaker dedicated to Dubai is launching this weekend on Friday, January 21, 2022. Paying homage to the emirate, the new FORUM LOW DUBAI CITY sneaker by Adidas merges street style and heritage. Created through unique handwoven craft, traditional Emirati embroidery techniques play a significant role in local culture – blending colourful designs and symbols inspired by the natural environment and tribal patterns. As a tribute to this nationally treasured craft, the FORUM LOW DUBAI CITY sneaker is inspired by this design as a representation of Emirati innovation and resilience – incorporating black, white, brown, and red with distinctive patterns onto the classic silhouette of the shoe.

A luxe new waterfront restaurant

Bar-Du-Port-Dubai

A luxe new waterfront restaurant has arrived in Dubai and it’s the perfect place to dine alfresco this winter. Bar Du Port is located at Dubai Harbour and is one of the first restaurants to open on the luxurious new waterfront development. Enjoy an array of Mediterranean-inspired dishes Escargots (pink garlic, herb butter, tomato confit), Oysters N3 (lemon, shallot confit in xeres vinegar), Langoustine Linguine (caviar, langoustine bisque), Wood-Grilled Octopus (dried chorizo, tomato tartare) and more.

Art exhibition

Sharjah Art Exhibition

The Xenogenesis exhibition by the Otolith Group arrived in the UAE back in November, but there’s now only a few weeks left. Available to see at the Sharjah Art Foundation’s Gallery 1, 2, 5 and 6 at the Al Mureijah Art Spaces, the key works of the London-based art collective consist of Anjalika Sagar and Kodwo Eshun. This cross-section of works, created between 2011 and 2018, reflects the artists’ ongoing commitment to creating what they call ‘a science fiction of the present’ through the use of images, voices, sounds and performance. Suspended between fiction, poetry, documentary and theory, The Otolith Group’s post-cinematic films, high definition videos and multiple screen installations address the global crises of the Racial Capitalocene that have shaped contemporary planetary capitalism. Entry to the exhibition is free, but you need to reserve a space before going. You can book here.
