As Dubai continues to step into the future, the emirate is now home to a completely cashier-free contactless store.

While the closest we got to artificial intelligence was only in Black Mirror, it’s now a reality in the emirate thanks to Majid Al Futtaim’s latest innovation.

Without having to tirelessly wait in long queues, customers visiting the newly opened Carrefour City+ in Mall of the Emirates can effortlessly pick up their items by simply using their phones.

Inaugurated by His Excellency Omar bin Sultan Al Olama, Minister of State for Artificial Intelligence, this new retail concept opened its doors on September 6, 2021, making it the first of its kind in the region.

Stocking over 1,300 items ranging from beverages, snacks to food-to-go meals and basic essentials, the ‘simply walk out’ advanced technology making it a system that’s surely ahead of its times.

As the world moves towards a digitally-enabled economy, the UAE is continually making strides in this arena, especially in the retail space to enhance the customer’s overall shopping experience.

Keeping in mind the COVID-19 safety regulations, consumers can effortlessly breeze through their shopping with only ten shoppers a time in the store.

The store access is available via the current MAF Carrefour App and a QR code needs to be generated before entry into the store. It’s located on the first floor of the Mall of the Emirates and is open daily from 9am to midnight.
