As we approach the close of 2020, many will be preparing to celebrate. However, given the ongoing pandemic, the public needs to be mindful of precautions and guidelines in place for health and safety reasons.

In line with this, the Dubai Supreme Committee of Crisis and Disaster Management has outlined some precautionary measures ahead of New Year’s Eve celebrations in the emirate.

The rules were announced via the Dubai Media Office Twitter account, which included a maximum cap on gatherings in households – no more than 30 people can be present at private family or social gatherings.

Any gatherings found violating the above rules will be penalised. The host of the gathering will be fined Dhs50,000 and individuals will be fined Dhs15,000 each.

It was reiterated that inspections would be conducted to ensure all gatherings were complying with the published guidelines.

In addition, masks at gatherings need to be worn at all times and those who are elderly or have underlying health conditions are advised to not attend such gatherings.

For those who will be celebrating New Year’s Eve around various establishments around Dubai, ensure you wear a mask at all times apart from when sitting at your assigned table and ensure social distancing measures are adhered to.
