In honour of UAE Flag Day (November 3) we look to the colours of the flag for some sartorial inspiration.

Today you will no doubt see crowds of people gathering around flag poles. The reason? They are celebrating UAE Flag Day.

Created in 1971 during the formation of the UAE it is a symbol of pride for Emiratis. The colours used are traidtional Pan-Arab hues, each with their own special meaning. Red: represents strength and courage. According to Gulf News “The vertical red band can also be interpreted as binding all the other meanings together in unity.” Green: represents hope, joy, and prosperity. White: represents peace and honesty. Black: represents strength of mind.
