SHEIN has recently unveiled their latest collection with Dr. Kholoud with a new edit of pieces for Ramadan.
While empowering women through their collaborations, SHEIN explores individuality through effortless fashion. Being one of the largest e-commerce retailers globally, the fashion platform has recently collaborated with Dr. Kholoud, a Kuwaiti influencer, on a modest collection for the holy month of Ramadan.
While displaying four different themes within the collection, each of them caters to different women in the region with an array of pieces from modern detailing to skirts in bright colours.
Emirates Woman spoke to the fashion content creator on what inspired her to create the collection and empower women throughout the region.
What were your thoughts when SHEIN approached you for a collaboration?
Excited as I’m quite honored to be one of the personalities in the Middle East to collaborate with them to launch such an inspiring collection.
What was the inspiration behind each theme for the collection?
There are four themes in this collection: Effortlessly Elegant, Modest Opulence, Romantic Bestie and Vintage Loungewear. All of them are inspired by the preferences of Arab women and their lifestyle during Ramadan, providing a variety of choices for women of different professions and roles to dress on different occasions.
Which theme from the collection would you say is closest to your heart?
Effortlessly Elegant as it takes inspiration from the modern Middle Eastern woman, this theme is modest and feminine, taking inspiration from traditional loose robe silhouettes, with modern details including butterfly sleeves, lace detail collars, ruffles and dramatic bowknots.
Could you describe your style in a few words?
To be honest, I don’t think I have a specific personal style, If I must say then it will be: multi-style, keeping changing, affected by mood and fashion.
Any specific challenges that you faced in creating this collection and how did you overcome them?
To ensure the collection is made with the highest quality. From maintaining remote communication with SHEIN’s design team to give them ideas and feedback, it was all a time-consuming process. I always tried my best to follow up through the entire process.
As this is the Ramadan season, what are your must-have wardrobe essentials?
Kaftans of all materials and colours and lots of bold accessories. I love incorporating cultural attires from across the Arab world and using them as inspiration for the Ramadan season.
How do you believe women should feel empowered through the world of fashion?
Having the confidence to dress the way you want is so empowering. There are no rules, you can go from one fashion style to another each day or have a go-to look that you’re known for or dress based on your mood. You can be as bold or as casual as you like and having that sense of freedom and ability to dress for yourself first and not others are so empowering. Take control of each day and let your fashion do the talking.
Can you share some fashion tips for modest dressing this season?
With the warmer months approaching fast, I love matching sets with breathable fabric – they’re so comfortable to wear and have such a statement about them. Also, investing in a good blazer or two is a must, the right blazer can be worn dressed up or down, from business to smart casuals and from day to night.
Which upcoming fashion trends are you most excited about?
With the summer season approaching, I am looking forward to colour, colour and some more colour. There’s something about a colourful piece of clothing or jewellery that brings me joy and uplifts my mood. I’m also excited about the latest slides and mule trends.
