There’s a reason everyone loves a little black dress…

Call us boring (please don’t, you’ll hurt our feelings) but there’s so much to be said for the colour black. Classic, cool, and understated, it’ll always be a go-to.

And it has to be said, in the right hands, black can be striking and exciting. In this case, those hands belong to Beirut-based designer Zuhair Murad. He’s one of our favourites, and in the last few days he’s had two all-black looks hit the red carpet. They’re both stunning.

Here’s why Gucci will stop using fur from 2018

First, Victoria’s Secret angel and general supermodel Alessandra Ambrosio stepped out in Hollywood wearing a lace halter-neck jumpsuit designed by Murad.

For your reference:

We don’t think there’s a person alive who could call this dull. Ambrosio looks incredible, and the detailing is to die for. You can find this in the label’s resort collection for 2018.

Then, over in Cannes, came this triumph on actress Catherine Zeta Jones.

How good is that plunging neckline and cross-over waist? Very good, is the answer. Zeta Jones is 48 years old, people. Incredible.

Let’s take a moment to appreciate her excellent posture, too. Those of us slumped over our keyboards right now (guilty) could learn a thing or two.

Murad has gone from strength to strength this year. He’s blown us away with show-stopping wedding dresses, fairytale runway shows, and that one chartreuse dream Zendaya wore to the MTV Movie Awards in May.

Here’s to many more red carpet moments from Lebanon’s finest.
