Inspired through the narrative of escapism, Dior’s Autumn/Winter 2021 RTW collection explores a world of fantasy through mystical fairytales.
From metallic silhouettes to tulle evening gowns fit to be an ethereal ensemble, the iconic Dior code was portrayed through the show evoking elements of feminine sensibility as the audience enters a world exuded by magic.
Presented in the Hall of Mirrors at the Palace of Versailles while recalling famous childhood characters, through pieces such as a hood that might be worn by Angela Carter’s Little Red Hood.
While creating a feeling of desire amongst its audience to be adorned in the exquisite pieces from the collection Dior’s creative director Maria Grazia Chiuri adopted Beauty and the Beast elements as portions of the show retraced back to archival motifs through a swirl of bold colours which paved their way.
Bringing memories of the past to life, Chiuri said, “It’s linked with my idea of a contemporary Dior.”
With blue cashmere coats which had hints of red and white along with silver and gold fabrics made to give an almost supernatural effect.
With Dior’s monogram creating its own impact, silk scarves were also worn knotted under the chin, becoming the perfect star accessory. Opening a new perspective, different roles of a fairy tale were seen as the muses walked down the runway accompanied with artist Silvia Giambrone’s displayed work.
