It’s no secret Meghan Markle is a fashion icon.

So much so, her style influence has managed to sell out one of the most sought-after Dior bags.

During her recent appearance in New York City with husband Prince Harry for Global Citizen Live to promote vaccine equity, the Duchess of Sussex paid tribute to her late mother-in-law, Princess Diana.

Seen in a monochrome black and white ensemble, Meghan accessorised her outfit with a black Lady Dior bag, a piece which was named after the late Princess of Wales.

Sharing some photos of Meghan’s outing, the Maison themselves described the Duchess as “the epitome of Dior elegance” as she stepped out with her ‘Lady D Lite’ bag.

Not only was Meghan paying tribute to an icon, the late Princess Diana, by carrying the bag, she also managed to sell out the accessory after she was seen wearing it.

Royal reporter Omid Scobie tweeted saying, “That was quick! Within hours of posting, Dior sold out [of the bag] worldwide.”

The specific bag Meghan was carrying was the Medium Lady D-Lite Bag in Black Cannage Embroidery which retails for Dhs18,000 and is described as “a sleek, feminine bag, it’s timeless yet modern”.

The Lady Dior bag first became famous in 1995 when Princess Diana wore the handbag on a trip to Paris. The bag was first launched a year prior to this in 1994, but the accessory became hugely popular after Diana was seen wearing it.

In 1996, a year after the late Princess of Wales stepped out with the bag for the first time, it was officially named the ‘Lady Dior’ after Diana.
