If popcorn’s a little old hat for you, then you’ll be happy to hear that Reel Cinemas and Nakheel have announced the launch of a luxury dine-in cinema featuring a restaurant within a movie theatre.

The concept, dubbed The Dine-In Cinema, will be part of a five-screen luxury movie and entertainment centre inside the new Dhs800 million waterfront retail and dining destination The Pointe.

While it hasn’t been confirmed if this will be a fine-dining table service experience or simply a Michelin-starred-quality cuisine service while you sit in your cinema seat, what has been confirmed is that it’s set to be an incredibly luxurious entertainment experience.

Sat just across the bay from Atlantis The Palm, The Pointe will feature over 150 retail and dining outlets, as well as dancing fountains and a long promenade.

According to Nakheel, their new top-of-the-range cineplex will offer up everything – including the latest and greatest in audio-visual tech, ergonomic seating and personalised service.

On top of that, The Dine-In Cinema will be serving up “culinary delights that will enhance the movie-going experience for all members of the family”.

The Pointe isn’t the only new location to come to the Palm Jumeirah. Nakheel are also developing the five-storey, Dhs1.2 billion Nakheel Mall.

The project has already begun to take shape, and is around half-way finished.

Once complete, the complex will consist of 4.5 million square feet of shops, restaurants and entertainment options, with a three-tiered parking lot containing over 4,000 spaces.

Throughout the five floors, shoppers will be treated to over 350 retail and dining options as well as leisure attractions.

There’s no set opening date for Nakheel Mall, but they’re hoping to have it open by Q3 this year.
