Is It Different? Fashion Week Through The Eyes Of An Emirati

When we heard jewellery designer Fatima Al Dhaheri was travelling to the British capital for London Fashion Week, we tasked the fashionable beauty to keep a diary. We wanted to know what she thought was cool, where she hung out and who she mingled with…
Essentially when we asked Fatima to keep a London Fashion Week diary we wanted to see it not only through the eyes of a fashion designer but also an Emirati woman. Here she shares her journey:
“My jewellery brand Ruwaya is a new interpretation of fine jewellery design with contemporary style and bold experimentation. Travelling to London Fashion Week was a chance to be inspired by not only the new collections from some of the most amazing designers in London but also the art, architecture and surroundings. I love being able to incorporate these inspirations into my collections.
“As each piece of jewellery is unique, each piece makes a statement and each piece has a story to tell. So, what better place to build the story then London during springtime…”
After a long flight to London, I decided to start my trip with lunch at my favourite department store, Selfridges. A restaurant called The Corner.
Once refuelled, first thing is first – taking in the sights and the stunning view of the city on the London Eye.
Arriving at LFW was so exciting, the streets were filled with fashionable people all waiting to see all the new collections .
My home for the 10 days in Imperial Wharf.
As well as visiting the shows, I couldn’t come to London without visiting some of my most favourite stores, one being Chanel.
I love London’s streets and its art and architecture…
Inspiration is all around us at the buzzing Covent Garden.
In between shows I visited The National Portrait Gallery as I love art and fashion – the exhibition was a perfect mix of the two.
The Markus Lupfer Presentation
Great inspiration from Markus Lupfer.
What did I wear during fashion week? My own jewellery pieces from Ruwaya.
After the shows my next stop stop was a Hot Chocolate at Granger & co to warm up. The weather here is so much colder then Dubai.
The weather was beautiful so I decided to take a walk through Hyde Park just as this beautiful sunset started.
Travelling over London Bridge after a long day of fashion.
Couldnt resist trying this spinach cake at Leto on Kings Road after a walk back to my Chelsea home.
Joined friends for dinner at the Blue Bird in Chelsea were I was given a beautiful rose.
