Prepare to update your new season wish list ladies with a new frock or two as Diane Von Furstenberg’s wardrobe retrospective, Journey of a Dress, will be stopping in Dubai from October 24-31.
As part of the 40th anniversary celebration of Diane Von Furstenberg’s iconic wrap dress design that changed women’s wardrobes forever, the exhibition, which opened in January to a celebrity crowd in Los Angeles, highlights the story of one of the most iconic dresses in recent fashion history.
The Middle East stopover will feature a retrospective of 13 vintage and contemporary DVF designs, chronicling the evolution of prints, patterns and styles of the dress as well as shining a spotlight on other highlights from Diane’s extensive and impressive design career. A former princess by her ex-husband, Prince Egon of Furstenberg, Germany, Diane has built a fashion and lifestyle empire over the last four decades, the ups and downs of which are set to be chronicled in her first memoirs, due for release late this year.
Speaking about the installation’s latest stop in the UAE, Diane, who was named the most powerful woman in fashion by Forbes in 2012, couldn’t be more excited about the location, saying: “I was 26 when I created the wrap dress, and I am thrilled to celebrate it now by bringing the Journey of a Dress to Dubai.”
As if having access to these beautiful archived dresses wasn’t enough, in addition to the exhibition, 11 wrap dresses from the just-shown S/S15 collection will be available for sale to coincide with Journey of a Dress. Made of bold and colourful silk jersey in the brand’s 1970s-inspired signature prints, the dresses will be exclusive to the Diane von Furstenberg boutique in Mall Of The Emirates.
