From Bottega Veneta to Chanel
If you invest just in one item this year, make it one of these fabulous designer handbags. Unlike shoes, you don’t need that many bags to complete your wardrobe, in fact we bet you can’t name more than 10 of your favourite pieces.
Iconic brands like Chanel, Prada, Hermès and Dior are a sound investment, transcending trends and dominating over any new emerging brands. This year, each of the Maisons along with a few other familiar names have unveiled new designs that we have been spotting all over Instagram, most notably the cushiony Chanel 19 Bag that we featured in our March issue (below).
Bottega Veneta is close second, particularly the BV Twist clutch that may not seem too practical, but it’s definitely eye catching. Alexander McQueen’s story bag also grabbed out attention, and we were particularly taken with the white version that we featured in the February issue (below).
This season we have also seen a throwback to the archives, with the Gucci 1955 Horsebit bag proving to be a popular choice among the style pack, while Prada Re-Edition 2005 Nylon and Saffiano Leather mini bag has also become a must-have. Celine Maillon Triomphe has been further developed for the Summer 2020 runway and features a key signature inspired by the brands heritage. The couture house’s historic monogram first revealed in 1972 is a link motif inspired by the chain encircling the Arc de Triomphe in Paris.
Finally, The Row Slouchy Banana Tweed Cross-Body bag has been a surprising hit this year despite first making it’s debut last year.
