In another development on restrictions being made amidst the COVID-19 pandemic, all UAE residency visa holders who are currently abroad are suspended from entering the country.

Effective as of noon on Thursday March 19, those who are UAE residents who are out of the country will not be allowed to re-enter the UAE for the next two weeks, according to the state news agency WAM.

“The development comes as a precautionary measure to ensure the safety of those affected by the decision, which is subject to renewals depending on the health status measures taken due to the novel coronavirus outbreak,” WAM states.

The Ministry of Foreign Affairs and International Cooperation has given the following advice to UAE residency visa holders:

    • Those who are now staying in their countries of origin have to contact the UAE diplomatic missions in their respective nations for all necessary support and to streamline their return back to the UAE.
    • Those who are currently outside the UAE for business considerations have to contact their employers here as well as Emirati diplomatic missions in their host countries for all necessary support to facilitate their return back to the UAE.
    • Those who are now on vacation have to contact UAE diplomatic missions in their respective host countries for all necessary support to facilitate their return back to the UAE.

The Federal Authority for Identity and Citizenship (ICA) is urging those affect to get in touch with the ICA by phone, +971 (0)50 106 6099, or email, operation@ica.gov.ae.

The move comes after a temporary travel ban was imposed on all UAE citizens and same-day visas on arrival were suspended, affecting more than 70 countries.

In the UAE there have been 113 confirmed cases of coronavirus, 87 of those cases are currently active and 26 have recovered.
