Minimum distance
Strict social distancing guidelines have been released by the Departments of Economic Development in Dubai and Abu Dhabi in order to limit the spread of coronavirus.
Stores and retail sites across the UAE have been instructed to introduce clear signs in order for customers to practice social distancing in stores.
“Dubai Economy directs all retails & business outlets in Dubai to apply the terms of social distancing with a minimum distance of 1.5 metres between all individuals by placing clear signage on the floor for payment queues and reception areas,” a statement posted to Twitter read.

The 1.5m guidelines issued by the Departments of Economic Development in Dubai and Abu Dhabi encompasses an extra half metre than the recommended minimum amount of space of social distancing published by the World Health Organisation.
In order to direct customers on exactly how much space to leave between one another, markers will be placed in stores where high densities of people gather like reception areas and queues at the check out.
These measures are to be implemented as of March 22. There has been no confirmed amount of time for how long these requirements will be in effect.
