Responding to ‘unprecedented challenges’
In response to the coronavirus pandemic, The Dubai Mall is set to launch a virtual store.
The Dubai Mall and Emaar Malls, the operator of Dubai’s biggest mall, is set to partner with Noon offering contactless shopping to consumers in the wake of the COVID-19 outbreak.
The new launch aims to ease the “unprecedented challenges” caused by the global pandemic and will offer a “free, safe, cashless and convenient” daily service to shoppers.
“Unprecedented challenges call for innovative, collaborative and bold measures,” an Emaar spokesperson stated.
“The COVID-19 situation and its impact on the global economy call for us to rally our strengths and identify new measures that take into consideration the social and economic realities,” the spokesperson said.
“We stand by our nation, community and industry to address the impact of the situation.”
The new virtual store is set to support retailers in order “to do positive business” whist also “factoring in the need for social distancing”.
“The initiative allows for Emaar Malls to connect our stores and customers safely, without impacting daily routines and worries around wellbeing,” the spokesperson continued. “This will particularly benefit SMEs and startups that do not have an active online presence as well as larger retailers who now have an added channel to drive sales.”
Noon.com is set to be the first to partner with The Dubai Mall for the virtual store.
“We have been in discussions with large mall operators for the virtual mall initiative, as part of our efforts to offer alternate channels for retailers to tide over the current challenges,” a Noon spokesperson stated, adding they “expect to announce further major partnerships with large malls shortly”.
There’s also reports Namshi will partner with the outlet too. EW has reached out to Namshi comment.
