Get ready to break out your little black jacket and quilted 2.55 ladies as Chanel is heading to Dubai. Karl Lagerfeld and his crew will be arriving in the UAE on May 13 to present the French fashion house’s most recent cruise collection in the presence of select VIPs, international celebrities and respected media.

Previous locations for the show include Paris, Saint Tropez and, most recently, Singapore. The prestigious presentations were attended by fashion heavy weights and celebrities including actress Elle Fanning, former Vogue Paris editor Carine Roitfeld and Vogue USA Editor-At-Large, André Leon Talley.

In general, cruise and resort shows cater to the wealthier, seasoned clientele and encompass season-specific ready-to-wear items. Chanel’s last cruise offering proved to be more relaxed and sport-inspired than their usual high-octane glamour and sparked a fashion frenzy when they debuted the black and clear perfume bottle-shaped evening bag, which has been spotted heavily at this month’s New York Fashion Week.

While the exclusive presentation will be King Karl’s first for Chanel in the Emirates, it is not his first time in the region. Karl has already been approached to work on several projects in the UAE, including an offer to design 80 homes in Dubai’s Isla Moda, a dedicated fashion island located within The World development off the coast of Jumeirah. With Dubai’s presence on the sartorial scene growing stronger by the minute, thanks to the success of projects like Fashion Forward, it’s no wonder the seasoned designer has set his sights on our growing metropolis. Set to be a once-in-a-lifetime show, with the who’s who of the fash pack on the front row, the event will undoubtedly be a regional highlight of 2014. Which just leaves with a final question – what on earth do we wear?
