The camellia and Chanel have a history together, as over the years the flower has become an emblem of the powerhouse brand. So, it comes as no surprise Chanel has launched a beauty collection dedicated to the flower.
A clean and sustainable collection ranging from a powder-to-foam cleanser to a fragrance mist, all of which are enhanced by the powers of the camellia flower.
Chanel has spent years cultivating its expertise when it comes to its jasmine and gardenia fields in Grasse and extracting raw materials for its fragrances. Yet now the brand is expanding the use of flowers to its beauty line.
In 1998, Chanel chose the small village of Gaujacq in the South of France as home to its camellia fields. The fields and laboratory now have over 2,000 varieties of the flower to analyse, extract, filter, and concentrate into products.
Chanel views flowers as a life form that carry both solutions and promises. So the brand has set out on a mission to use innovative agroecological cultivation methods in their laboratories in order to seek molecules of cosmetic interest within plant cells.
Rich, heavy, bold, and radiant, the camellia has properties that the Chanel phytochemists have used to enhance the skin and preserve a youthful appearance.
The No1 de Chanel beauty collection aims to look after the skin, body, mind, and soul through the properties of the camellia.
The skincare range consists of a revitalising face cream, eye cream, powder-to-foam cleanser, serum in-mist, and a revitalising lotion, all of which promote radiance and elasticity and decrease the appearance of pores and wrinkles.
The makeup collection is comprised of a revitalising foundation and lip and cheek balm, infused with skincare properties that enhance the complexion.
The collection also has a fragrance inspired by the camellia, L’eau de Rouge. A fragrance mist created by perfumer Olivier Polge with notes of red berries, jasmine, rose, iris, and musk that is infused with camellia extract and camellia water for a refreshing, invigorating scent.
No1 de Chanel is now available in stores.
