There is no slowing down for the Y2K trend. In the menswear realm, the iconic Louis Vuitton Monogram Speedy is making a return – this time, re-conceptualised as a man bag.
Just this week, celebrity sightings include 26-year old Australian actor Jacob Elordi in Sydney Airport as well as Los Angeles Lakers power forward Lebron James ahead of his first game of the season in Denver. With two entertainment and sports modern icons carrying the bag, this makes for a strong comeback for the LV Speedy and could potentially become the next “it” man bag for the new seasons to come.
It has made its runway appearance at Pharrell Williams’s debut collection last June during Men’s Fashion Week in Paris, which made headlines due to a star-studded first row attendees the likes of Jay-Z, Beyoncé, Rihanna, Zendaya, Kim Kardashian and more.
The new adaptation features the classic trapezoid Speedy silhouette but is a softened construction crafted in supple grained calf leather and lined in the finest lambskin. Rendered in several bright colourways, it showcases silkscreen-printed Monogram motif for a hand-painted effect.
