It takes more than a howling sandstorm to stop the Cartier International Dubai Polo Challenge 2015. In spite of the gusty winds, falling props and flying panama hats, the 10th anniversary was a huge success with royalty rubbing shoulders with the creme de la creme of the UAE and international socialites.
Taking place at Desert Palm, the style elite, international celebs and royalty alike risked potential wardrobe malfunctions and windswept hair to attend the biggest event on the sporting and social calendar.
A postponement to the event (it started three hours later at 4pm) meant the first game was cancelled; but the grand final continued with the Desert Palm team collecting the trophy, which was presented by HRH Princess Haya and American style icon and blogger Olivia Palermo, who was in the region having a good time with team EW – more on that to follow.
As usual Cartier used event to showcase its latest collections and this year it was the Clé de Cartier range of timepieces, including its unisex watch, presented for the first time worldwide to the public.
Despite the weather, the style stakes were still incredibly high (check out our best dressed) as were the spirits with the UAE residents and VIP visitors proving it takes more than a storm to hold them back.
