Cartier International Dubai Polo Challenge 2014

In some parts of the world, watching the polo is a chance to don a summer dress and espadrilles and lounge casually on the side lines while enjoying the sport of kings. This, however, is not how Dubai rolls. Yesterday’s ninth Cartier International Dubai Polo Challenge saw more fashions on the field than the Dubai World Cup and The Melbourne Cup combined.

Cartier played host to the soiree of the social season, which saw both celebrities and socialites alike mingling among the gorgeous grounds of the Desert Palm Polo Club. Even Cara Delevingne’s sister and fellow model Poppy made an appearance.

However, it wasn’t all about high-octane glamour, of course, it was also about the action on the field with team Cartier triumphing in the tournament, taking home the coveted trophy after defeating team CNN 11.5 – to 7. Cartier’s Raul Laplacette took the La Martina Most Valuable Player Award, while Saeed Bin Drai’s seven-year-old mare won Best Playing Pony.
