The prestigious Cannes Film Festival has returned yesterday for its 72nd edition. For the opening, the biggest stars from all around the world descended onto Promenade de la Croisette to celebrate the event. Over the years, the French Riviera’s independent film festival has become one of the most-anticipated and fashion-forward red-carpet events of the year.

The eleven-day event will be filled with numerous incredible style moments, and if yesterday was anything to go by, we are definitely in for a ride. To kick off Cannes Film Festival in style, we’re bringing you all the best looks from yesterday’s opening ceremony.

The Oscar-nominated Lebanese director won the Jury Prize at last year’s Festival and was appointed as the president of the jury for Un Certain Regard at this year’s edition. She is the first Arab to ever head the committee.
