Early breast cancer detection can save countless lives and the UAE’s taking all the steps to help with this.

As October is dedicated to raising awareness for breast cancer, there are various initiatives in the UAE to curb this disease. From regular screenings to being aware of symptoms, this month is purely dedicated to raising awareness for the cause.

Per, the World Health Organization, 2.3 million women were diagnosed with breast cancer globally, making it the most prevalent cancer.

Emirates Woman has compiled a list of the two organisations offering complimentary screenings to create awareness for breast cancer.

To raise awareness on the cause, free clinical check-ups as part of the REE:THINK Pink initiative will take place in mini mobile clinics. For convenience and to reach a larger audience the clinic will be located at Kite Beach on October 23, Saturday from 4pm to 10pm.

“We would like to thank Reebok for their support in raising awareness on breast cancer, which is the most common invasive cancer in women the second leading cause of cancer deaths in women across the globe,” the Director-General at Pink Caravan, Dr. Sawsan Al Madhi, said. “The REE:THINK PINK campaign will enable us to further contribute not just to the UAE community but also to the overall MENA region and advocate our mission.”

As part of Reebok’s #TheCheckUpChallenge, a dance sequence will take place to educate women on the right method of performing breast self-exams to further advocate the UAE’s mission. Having gained worldwide recognition, Pink Caravan was launched as an imitative for the early detection of cancer.

Overall, women of all races will be offered a free awareness lecture, clinical examination and a mammogram screening at the Pink Caravan x Reebok mini mobile clinic at the aforementioned venue.

A special campaign entitled ‘Pink it Now’ part of the hospital’s annual breast cancer awareness drive will take place until November 30, 2021. Making it to the 10th year, women will be offered free X-Ray mammograms and consultations with specialists, along with a 50 per cent discount on ultrasound tests.

The renowned Oncologist, Dr. Pamela Munster is the campaign ambassador and survivor herself who has devoted her time to spreading awareness and leading the fight against breast cancer. The core message of the campaign is ‘Education and early detection’ to prevent the disease.

In addition, to the screenings, talks by several specialists and experts will be conducted to further elaborate on this subject.
