Time to shine those glass slippers!

Havana hit maker Camila Cabello is preparing to trade in her microphone for a ball gown. The singer is set to make her feature acting debut in writer-director Kay Cannon’s re-telling of Cinderella for Sony Pictures.

The re-telling of the iconic fairytale will be produced by late night TV host, James Corden alongside Leo Pearlman, through their Fulwell73 banner. Moreover, not only will she star in it, but the 22-year-old will be integrally involved in the making of the film’s soundtrack. This film will focus heavily on music, as it showcases the traditional tale of the orphaned girl with an evil stepmother and wicked stepsisters.

Not much is known about this upcoming Cinderella movie, but we can expect great things with this team involved. Kay has previously written immensely successful films like: 30 Rock and the Pitch Perfect trilogy. Moreover, she made her directorial debut last year with Blockers, starring Kathryn Newton, Leslie Mann, Ike Barinholtz and John Cena. Meanwhile, James is no stranger to world of movies and fairytales. He previously starred alongside Anna Kendrick and Meryl Streep in Disney’s 2014 Brothers’ Grimm mash-up Into the Woods. He also played an insurance investigator in Ocean’s Eight and is portraying Bustopher Jones in the upcoming Cats film.

Over the years, there have been numerous remakes of the Disney fairytale. Many of Hollywood’s leading actress got the chance to slip into Cinderella’s glass slippers, including: Julie Andrews, Drew Barrymore, Brandy Norwood, Lily James, Hilary Duff and Selena Gomez to name a few. We are excited to see what Camila brings to this classic role.
