Summer is here and it’s about high time to invest in a watch that can withstand the depths of the ocean.

Known to be the best on the market are the Bremont Supermarine divers watches and the latest addition to the family is the Waterman Apex. In the world of watches, the British watchmaker has a long reputation for leading the market with durability and precision and the Waterman Apex no different.

The high-performance and handsomely designed one-of-a-kind timepiece is exclusively limited to just 250 pieces and designed to celebrate life on and under the water. We’re not just talking about dipping it in the pool here, the Waterman Apex is designed to get wet and has a high-performance mechanical dive watch forming part of Bremont’s iconic Supermarine line-up.

To really put this new timepiece to the test, Bremont recruited iconic big-wave surfer Laird Hamilton to see what the Waterman Apex is really made of. Having grown up around the water, the celebrated sportsman is a guiding genius of crossover board sports, including tow-in-surfing, stand-up paddle boarding, and hydrofoil boarding, making him the perfect candidate to see what the Waterman Apex can do.

Laird Hamilton – Waterman

Getting down to the fundamentals, the Waterman Apex is perhaps one of Bremont’s most technically savvy dive watches produced to date. Incoprtoing an automatic helium escape valve and crown protector, the watch also has an impressive 42-hour power reserve paired with a GMT and date functionality. Ensuring it can withstand the depths of the seas, the watch’s 43mm steel Trip-Tick case includes a scratch-resistant sapphire uni-directional bezel.

Also paying tribute to the ocean, the watch has a matte black dial subtly decorated with a shark fin motif amongst waves. This feature is a nod to Bremont’s partnership with Bimini Shark Lab, an organisation that the watch celebrates and supports. With this in mind, a portion of the sales from the watch will be donated to the non-profit organization working on a mission to understand the biology of sharks and rays better.

Design-wise, the watch’s Super-LumiNova filled applied indexes and hands are complemented by a red seconds hand and blue GMT hand which matches the integrated Harbour Blue rubber strap. The colour hue is also complemented by the watch’s open sapphire case, which features a custom rotor. And, yes the watch is completely water-resistant up to 500m, despite the open case back. The movement is protected by Bremont’s patented anti-shock vibration mount technology.

This water-resistant wonder will certainly be a welcomed addition to your collection.
