Toko Dubai, renowned in Australia for revolutionising Japanese cuisine is bringing a splash of urban sophistication to the Vida Downtown Hotel. With its extensive menu of bespoke artisan cocktails, innovative Japanese street food and ultra-stylish setting it’s our new weekend hotspot, we hotfooted it to Vida Downtown to review the Boulevard menu.
The sun soaked Japanese style garden has a funky décor of cool wooden seating, stunning vertical waterfalls, bold artworks and a roof of floating umbrellas. It’s the sort of place that throws you back to adventures in paradise and it got us planning our next trip away to somewhere cultured and exotic.
It has a level of serenity and peacefulness brought by its unique setting, a far cry from the concrete jungle and bustling traffic of downtown, and the cool beats and trendy staff add that sophisticated edge with a cool laid-back vibe. It’s the perfect weekend dining place with friends after a busy week at work.
The food and drink here is seriously Instagram-worthy stuff, it’s like a work of art on your plate and you really can see the amount of effort that has gone into creating each of the dishes, it really is perfection. Not only that, the food does taste as good as it looks. We started with the sushi mountain, as we liked to call it, which was served on top of crushed ice in a beautiful shell bowl, it’s probably some of the freshest sushi we’ve eaten in Dubai. Next up came the hot dishes, first was black cod, which melted in the mouth followed by roast potato shisho butter, street steamed buns, korean lamb chops, beef tenderloin with chilli soy sauce and rock shrimp tempura with tofu mayonnaise all of which were truly delectable. To finish we devoured a mountain of desserts, the chocolate fondant is to die for.
If you love sushi, then this is the place for you.
The tuna nigiri, the chilled vibe and the exotic setting.
